I’m very excited to be embarking on a wax sculpting / wax carving adventure.
I started my jewelry sculpting journey using precious metal clay. Although this material is wonderful and challenging in its own right, it cannot serve me well in terms of growing a business that can sustain my family. The goal of a truly profitable and sustainable business will require a kinder cost to profit margin ratio for sure.
As much as I love creating one of a kind pieces this is a fragile framework for me as the artist. I have some physical and health limitations that often interfere with my ability to consistently create new things.
Wax sculpting on the other hand, opens the doors to both endless creativity and reproductions, making the final pieces more affordable to buyers and collectors. It would also permit customizations and permutations on a scale I could not manage on a one at a time basis.
Thus my wax sculpting learning curve begins!
