Soul Stirring Animals Captured in Sculpture.

I'm a sculptor of touchstones of love and wonder, of curiosity and connection. Whether those objects are small enough to wear or large enough to observe from any place in a room I want these pieces to feel like wearing your heart on your sleeve, a wordless song that reminds you of your place in the world, of how much you are needed and loved.

About Canadian Animal and Nature Artist Renée Fukumoto

My work celebrates the energy and form of animals both wild and tame. I'm drawn to the essential connection between nature and humanity and my work is both observation of and reflection on the wild hearts of humanity and animals.

Symbolism and storytelling, feeling the animals come to life in visceral and touchable ways are essential components in the inspiration and goals of my artistic work.

Subjects emerge from a matrix of textures and marks that imply energy and movement in order to reflect the Confluence of the life of the animal, it's habitat and the human soul.

I'm currently working from my studio at home in Georgetown, Ontario. My education as an artist has been years in the making through my own exploration coupled with a workshop or two. I’ve long been inspired by keen observation of animals and the natural world whether at home or abroad and I focus on capturing the character and essence of animals and places I love, regardless of the media I use.

I’ve participated in juried shows, intimate exhibitions and belonged for several years to a local artist co-operative. My work has found homes both nationally and internationally.

I’m happiest when surrounded by my kids, my animals, creating in my studio or outdoors. My four children are grown up now - but once a mom always a mom!

We’re so blessed to have the love of our beautiful dogs, cats and my beloved horse.
