A Secret Wild Place

Finding a delightful setting for photographing my tiny sculpture and jewelry has been a quest for quite some time. I’ve been trying to sort out in my own mind and heart how to express what I feel my work stands for, what it wants to convey.

Into the wild, secret places I used to go as a child. There I could wander in awe and silence; observing, listening and exploring. I took those places with me in my heart. They are with me still. They tell the story of peace and wonder and most importantly to me, they sing a song of worship for the power and beauty of Creation and my delight and honour to be part of it.

I haven’t been able to get to those wild places for quite some time and felt such a sense of loss. Then I discovered some delightful places in my own backyard that capture the essence of my childhood joys. These places are fast becoming favourite places in which to photograph my tiny work. I feel they help tell the stories I wish to tell, calling us to slow down, pause and observe. Take in the wonders and cherish them.

I wanted to give my little sculptures a sense of belonging in their own wild world and invite us all into it with them. So, welcome into this quiet place where you can make room for reverie and wonder.

If you want to follow this little wild adventure of creating sculptures and jewelry to tell our stories, please join me in my Studio Friends email list.
