I've wobbled a bit in my 30 days of simple art project. I thought I had enough resource photos and ideas to carry me through but... no.

Its interesting to wrestle through the ideas, media selection etc and lean into what I'm learning here. And that I'm learning here.

It's a process. All of it. The painful bits and the easy bits work together in a dynamic relationship.

So, I was a bit surprised to find myself really enjoying the beginning stages of this portrait I started of our girl Layla Baby. In fact, I was still kinda lit up about it even though it barely looked like anything at all and I ended up changing the media. LOL (Hubs suggested I do a portrait of her, since I was a bit stuck for going forward).

This doggo makes me happy. And the process makes me happy. So...here I am in my happy place looking forward to digging in, again. 🥰

Thanks for cheering me on and celebrating my wins with me 😘

I became a bit frustrated with the pastel, as it lifted when I tried to layer. I'd forgotten that this is one of the things I dislike about working in pastel. So, I switched to oils and… it was like coming home! Ah, my heart sang as I painted 😍
