Renée is a Canadian artist currently working in clay sculpture and sculpted fine silver and bronze.

Her work celebrates the energy and form of animals both wild and tame.

She is drawn to the essential connection between Nature and humanity and her work is both observation of and reflection on the wild hearts of humanity and animals.

Symbolism and story telling, feeling the animals come to life in visceral and touchable ways are essential components in the inspiration and goals of her artistic work.

Subjects emerge from a matrix of textures and marks that imply energy and movement in order to reflect the confluence of the life of the animal, its habitat and the human soul.

About Renée

Born in Calgary, Alberta, I grew up in London, Ontario where I attended University of Western Ontario. I studied English literature with a smattering of art history, politics and psychology. I thought I’d continue my education and become a teacher or further than than, a professor of English literature. However my natural bent as an artist asserted itself.

I'm currently working from my studio at home in Georgetown, Ontario, my education as an artist has been years in the making through my own exploration and a few workshops. I’ve long been inspired by keen observation of animals and the natural world whether at home or abroad and I focus on capturing the character and essence of animals and places I love, regardless of the media I use.

I’ve participated in juried shows, intimate exhibitions and belonged for several years to a local artist co-operative. My work has found homes both nationally and internationally.

I’m happiest when surrounded by my kids, my animals, creating in my studio or outdoors. My four children are grown up now - but once a mom always a mom!

We’re so blessed to have the love of our beautiful dogs, cats and my beloved horse.
