Take a peek into my studio on this chilly January Monday!

I’m working on organizing my space to be more accommodating to my processes and boy, it’s a struggle LOL You see, my studio lives in my “formal living room”, in the front of my house. This room is mostly round, occupying the main floor of the “turret” structure on the house, and it’s unfortunately, open concept. Believe me, not having walls or doors on my studio is more challenging than you’d think! However, I am so thankful to have this sanctuary space to house my equipment, media and myself when I’m in the middle of a creative storm :D

Among my favourite places to explore and paint en plein aire with friends has been Rattlesnake point Conservation Area. Easily accessible from where I live and yet steeped in the language of the wild and ancient rock cliffs, trees and creatures.

Of course, there are times when there are many other people walking the paths or sometimes scaling the cliff faces. It merely means one must choose to focus on the natural wonders of the location.

Painting en plein aire is probably one of the best ways to do this. However, during 2020 the park had to limit people's time in the park to a two hour time slot in order to accommodate the numbers of visitors. Thus I had to be satisfied with taking loads of photos and working from them and a few sketches in the studio.

I'm delighted to rediscover the tranquility and wonder of the setting as I work on this 30"×40" oil on canvas.
