Where Studio Life Intersects Everything Else

Studio companions are so important to me! Muse, Inspiration and excellent company (even if they chew the occasional paint brush!)

As I said in the previous blog post, I had to pause the release of the collection of small paintings I’ve created during March and April. I had hoped to begin a journey of creating a releasing small collections of work to both grow as an artist and a business person. Well, pivots are inevitable it seems. In fact, pivoting is beginning to feel more like dancing than progress ;) However, pivot I shall because quit I will not.

You see, our daughter has been given a diagnosis that begins to explain some of her health struggles over the past number of years and we believe is part of the reason behind her deterioration over the last two plus years specifically. Her stomach (and pending further tests, perhaps other parts of her digestive tract) is partially paralysed (hers is borderline severe Gastroparesis) resulting in many complications and requiring a fair bit of support at this time. For now, the shape of my life as care giver (and also a person with a chronic illness) means I must find a way to create and offer my creations that fit both my energy and my daughter’s needs.

I plan to focus for a time on offering my art - paintings and drawings - as open edition prints. I’m currently working with a professional art printing company in order to offer the highest quality, long lived prints for my buyers.

I’m also planning to develop some online art classes. I’ve been asked about teaching so often in the past but never felt the timing was right. And now, though it will take a bit of time to figure out the structure and tech, I think its time to dive in! Hurray!

So, if you have any questions or ideas for what you’d like to explore with me, I’d so love to hear from you!

You can also sign up for my Educational offerings email list, to stay informed and get to ask me questions directly.

I’ll be creating more original sculptures and jewelry also, as well as learning how to offer reproductions of these unique items in an approachable and affordable way. The plan (should I say I have a plan?) will be to offer tiny collections, trios and singles in order to keep this process of creating and offering very manageable and hopefully fun!

If you want to keep informed about these originals, please join my Studio Friends email list below.
