Forest, Field and Wing

Two paintings came to be this rainy Monday.

One, a thoughtful reflection on the state of the weather.

The world outside is greening up with all this Spring rain 😍

I switched up my media selection to Atelier Interactive Acrylics. Really juicy texture, rich colours and amazing for their quality of being "reopened" with water after touch dry.

Not that I did that with this piece. I wanted marks and edges. But it does make them have a much longer life on the palette :)

The second painting is a contemplation of one of my (and my daughter's) favourite birds. This owl's soft feathers and intensely observant gaze were a delightful challenge.

I chose to use Acrylics again, with a fairly wide brush for most of it, to try to overcome or at least bypass my tendency to overthink and bog down in detail.

I used a limited palette and aimed for fairly neutral tones throughout to expand on the idea that the owl is part of its environment.

I'm fair pleased with it and I hope you are too.
