Tolkien’s world building is astounding and I found myself wishing to ride the fabulous Shadowfax, the magnificent Mearas stallion of Rohan. The Mearas are the legendary “first horses” of the land. Wise, powerful and loyal to the the righteous, they spark longing in the hearts of many horse lovers.
